Technical Arts is one of the fastest growing departments within the Worship & Arts Ministry. Over thirty technicians coordinate their schedules to design and operate sound, lights, Presentation Graphics and video for regular weekend services and special events.
Lighting Ministry: Lighting operators control the house and stage lighting. They help control the focus of each element during a service, drama, or musical. We have a ton of lighting fixtures and a programmable control board to operate them all. We also have a few intelligent lighting fixtures that are used for special effects. We are in the process of designing a lighting system for our chapel that will introduce dynamic lighting for services and events in this venue. The Lighting Ministry group is involved with all services, musical productions, and concerts at the church. The Christmas and Easter Productions as well as two annual Children's Musicals provide just a few of the events that involve this ministry.
Presentation Graphics/Video Ministry: Our Presentation Graphics/Video ministry is responsible for what gets put up on the two rear-projection screens in the sanctuary. The techs that operate our Presentation Graphics/Video have one of the most demanding jobs in the tech booth. They have to pay attention to every word sung and spoken, in order to synchronize the slides with what they hear. We have two new projectors and a seamless switcher to transition from one source to another. Our sources include DVD, VCD, SVCD, VHS, SVHS, Satellite, Broadcast TV and multiple computer inputs. We have a 3-CCD Mini DV Video Camera and a small non-linear editing suite to make our own videos.
Come Join Us
If you are intrigued by this ministry, we would like to hear from you. Our techs usually serve one full weekend a month: Saturday evening, Sunday morning and a quarterly evening meeting to get us all together, focused and moving in the same direction. We will gladly help train you in whatever area you are interested in and will have you sit in the second seat, next to experienced operators, before putting you out on your own. Our techs have wonderful hearts to serve and help teach others their craft. Those interested in connecting through service with this team should make contact with Jeff Carnie at ext. 129.
